Thursday 26 November: Fort Lauderdale Turkey TrotA 5K for runners, walkers and wobblers, 7:30 am, starting at 3000 E Las Olas Blvd. It draws over 3,000 people each year. Registration is $60, rising after 16 November; a $95 combo adds the Jingle Bell Jog. About 14 minutes from the house without traffic.

Fri–Sat 4–5 Dec: Oakland Park Holiday Village5:30–10 pm at Jaco Pastorius Park, 4000 N Dixie Hwy, about a mile from the house. Free: a 40-foot tree, an ice rink, a snow slide, a carousel and a market.
